Almost exactly one year ago, I subscribed to Matthias Ott’s newsletter “Own Your Web.” I loved the idea of creating and truly owning your corner of the web, but like many good intentions, it sat there, collecting digital dust while I kept telling myself, “I’ll get to it someday.”
In the meantime, especially as a curator of Kirby websites, I noticed many new personal websites being built over the past year.
Well, someday is today! It took just one weekend and letting go of my perfectionism. It’s funny how I always tell my clients that websites aren’t set in stone once they go live – “we can still improve them later!”. I had to remind myself of that same advice. More than once.
This blog is intended to be what clever people like Maggie Appleton call a “digital garden”. A place where ideas can grow and evolve over time. Like a good sourdough bread, some thoughts need time to develop and mature. (I had to sneak in at least one bakery metaphor, right?)
Since I made the plan to “own my web” last year, I’ve been collecting article drafts and learnings. Stay tuned as I share them here, one post at a time.
